Project Name

Katwara Subsurface Dam

Location:

Kamuwongo which is 135 km North from Kitui town

Description:

This is a new subsurface dam  and will help reduce walking distance for at present people are walking 12 kilometres to get water from very deep wells.

This Project has been proposed by the Katwara Community Group

Community Background

Most of the members of the Katwara group are involved in Soil conservation, Making of access roads and they also keep few live stock, and subsistence farming is widely practiced thus growing of millet and sorghum.

Benefits On completion, this project will provide the following benefits for the community

Walking distance to water source will be reduced, and so Mothers will have time to attend to young children, and more time will be available for Farming, soil conservation, and building schools. Group members will have more plentiful, and cleaner water than before.

Comments

This is a good site and needs to be worked on before the November rains.
